Weekend Blessings

I love the weekend when this is what I wake up to....

and am reminded of how lucky I am by the special people in my life.

This weekend was a little challenging but it was surrounded by people that love us.

Top Five Heartwarming basics

How cosy and inviting is this little nook?

 

It inspired me to think about what what I love about our home in the colder months.

Ducted Heating - Such a blessing and love that the whole house is warm with the flick of a button.  

Electric blankets - My boys have graduated to electric blankets this year and they are loving the warmth so much they are begging to go to bed.  Why did I wait so long ??

The Boiling jug - It can mean only one of 2 things . Cuppa time or hot water bottle time.  It's a win win situation.

The Slow cooker - Every working Mum should have one!

Snuggling on the Couch - I saved the best for last.  Dare I say I don't need too much of an excuse to indulge in this little heart warming treat.

Lovely laundries

Confession Time......

My name is Shell and 

I am a "Laundry"aholic !

One of my "when I make it dreams" is to have a spectacular Laundry.  

Tragic I know but...

I could easily spend a whole day enjoying this American inspired Mudroom space so beautifully styled by Pottery Barn

So I am thinking I am going to style up my little "box like " laundry .  It may be small but that is no reason it can't be pretty and practical.

Maybe some fresh laundry baskets , a chic new ironing board cover, a new blind and of course a pretty print for the wall.

This chair is just the more lovely for all it's tattered and torn pieces of goodness.

Mothers Day Wickedness

What a blessing it is to be called "Mum".

  

I could not live without hearing that magic word.

So in honour of all the fabulous things Mums do,I thought I would share some "wicked" lemon goodness with you all today.

My Darling boys and I spent the afternoon cooking yesterday.  And this is our new fave recipe discovered in last week's Woman's Day.  I know, I hardly ever buy a "trash mag" and then bingo ! I found a gem. 

And we also indulged in making my all time favourites. Of course to be shared with a nice cup of tea.

 ( I am thinking an earl grey variety) 

I can never say no to a Melting Moment.

This week I arrived home to find a bountiful package of books at my front Black Gloss Door. (still so lovin it xox)

Add this to another couple of treasures I received from some treasured loved ones and I am in book heaven.

And if I tire of reading books I can indulge in a little magazine flipping.

Freshening it Up

You know how much I love a mid week "Freshen up".  

So here are my top 5 tips for Freshening up your nest this week:

Invest in a little Linen spray or Febreze and attack every soft furnishing in the house with it.  Curtains, bedding, cushions galore will smell more prettiful with a spray of something special.  And the best part is there is no washing involved.

Replace tea towels, bath towels and mats, hand towels and oven mits, even the dishwashing sponges and scourers with fresh ones. All that freshness will feel and look like you are sooo on "top of things".  


Wipe over bathrooms, toilets and kitchen benches with a beautiful scented spray .  I have mentioned Murchison Hume cleaners before but a little Lavender oil or Eucalyptus oil mixed in with some hot water weaves a magic spell on any germ infested surface you attack.


Sprinkle a little carpet refresh over the carpets and give a good vacuum to last you through to the weekend.  


Finally flick a feather duster over regularly viewed TV's and surfaces through high traffic areas.

What beautiful occasions are birthdays?

This weekend just gone I was blessed to feel the love and generosity of those that mean so much to me.

It was that special day of the year when one is truly indulged and spoiled.
